James (Jim) Mutch
Fundraiser since 1958
FINZ member since 1980
Jim’s associate with FINZ goes back to the earliest days when FINZ was a chapter of the Australasian Institute of Fundraising (TAIF). His commitment and dedication to FINZ has helped take it from those first fledgling days to an independent body with a Code of Ethics and Conduct.
As well as drawing up the original FINZ Code of Ethics, Jim served on the committee that drew up the first FINZ constitution, convened the FINZ Awards committee in 1998, and founded the Henry A Rosso Awards.
Jim’s fundraising career began in 1958 when he joined an international fundraising firm called Wells Organisation. He completed his initial training in Melbourne and directed twenty five fundraising campaigns in Australia over the next three years before establishing his own fundraising consultancy in New Zealand in 1961.
Jim has always been a committed member of FINZ and believes that the Code of Ethics and Conduct are valuable in helping maintain the professionalism of the industry.
