Kitty Hilton
Fundraiser since 1982
FINZ member since 1993
Kitty began fundraising with her father as a two year old when they went door to door collecting money for worthy causes. By the time she was eight, Kitty was out on her own fundraising for the blind.
Kitty has been involved in the not-for-profit sector in both New Zealand and Australia for over twenty years. She has held major roles in marketing and promotion for Mary Potter Hospice’s first telephone appeal and ran the first Daffodil Day for the Cancer Society in the Wellington region. Her specialist areas are strategic planning, leadership, relationship management, fundraising and marketing.
Having been on the National Council and Vice President, Kitty has had a long association with FINZ. She became a member in 1993 and was on the FINZ Central Division Committee for a number of years, including two years as Chair. As the FINZ representative on the Accountability of Charities and Sporting Bodies Working Party and more recently the Promoting Generosity Hub, Kitty has always shown herself to be a very active FINZ member.
Kitty says that FINZ membership demonstrates a professional attitude towards fundraising. She says it’s beneficial for the industry to be represented by a professional body such as FINZ, with a Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct that she’s committed to throughout her career.
